Almor Group Hisory

History

The Almor Group has expanded since its incorporation acquiring brands such as Wild Barfield & Barlow Whitney, Marathon Process Controls, Heat Treat Services to the most recent acquisition of Wellman Furnaces in 2015.

The Wellman Furnaces division also expanded through acquisition and today incorporates a number of well-known names in furnace building such as Incandescent, Birlec, British Furnaces, Gibbons, Metalectric, CGE (Consultant Gas Engineers). All contributing to the Group’s depth of technical expertise and knowledge of furnace manufacture and operation.

1992

Welding and Brazing Developments based in Cannock, West Midlands was established in 1966 (inc W B Combustion). Almor Ltd acquired Welding and Brazing in 1992, the company specialised in:

  • Alloy fabricator heat treatment equipment
  • Inconel shaft cladding
  • Combustion engineer (radiant tube burners)

Furnace site services

1998

F Atkinson based in Nottingham was established 1937 and Almor Ltd acquired the company in 1998.

The company specialised as an:

  • Alloy fabricator heat treatment equipment
  • Fabricator of flare gas burners
  • Fabricator of vessels and chemical process equipment

Wild Barfield (incorporating Barlow Whitney)was established in 1917 and acquired by Almor in 1998. Wild Barfield specialised in a long history of:

  • Design and manufacture of industrial furnaces and ovens
  • Furnaces services and replacement parts

1998

The Almor Group established Marathon Process Controls in 1998 which focussed on providing:

  • Furnace atmosphere monitoring equipment and control systems
  • Oxygen / carbon probes

2004

Heat Treat Service was established in 1984 and acquired by The Almor Group in 2004, It specialised in….

  • Oxygen / carbon probes
  • Alloy fabricator heat treatment equipment
  • Furnace refractory services
  • Furnace site services

2009

Mormetfabs established 1976 Acquired 2009

  • Alloy fabricator heat treatment fixtures and furniture
  • Location of Almor’s vacuum furnace repair facilities

2015

  • In 2015 Almor Ltd acquired Wellman Furnaces.

2016

  • Since acquiring Wellman Furnaces the Almor Group have incorporated it into the new overarching brand known as Almor Wellman.
